Apex Legends All Characters - Abilities & Other Details - Not A Myth

Every Legend has their strengths in Apex Legends, and they're all suited to different play styles. It's the first battle royale we've seen with the hero system and with eight unique Legends to choose from, let us tell you the details for every single one so you can pick the best Apex Legends character for you.

In Apex Legends, the characters have unique attributes that compliment each others' skill-sets and makes teamwork that much more important.

There are a total of eight characters, or 'Legends' as they're called, six of which are available to players right away while two have to be unlocked by playing the game or purchasing.

Some of these Legends have great offensive potential, others are a defensive presence for the team, and a few are the main source of support for teammates.

Wraith

Taking on the role of Inter-dimensional Skirmisher, Wraith's ability to travel between voids will give you the upper hand when going against enemy opponents in close quarter combat.

In this early period, Wraith appears to be the most popular Legend due to her invisibility powers. Her tactical ability allows her to go "Into The Void", which is a fancy way of saying she goes invisible for a few seconds, albeit with a trail following her. Enemies can still guess at your location but they won't be able to tell exactly.

Wraith is a whirlwind fighter, able to execute swift and deadly attacks and manipulate spacetime by opening rifts in the fabric of reality — but she has no idea how she got that way. Years ago, she woke up in an IMC Detention Facility for the Mentally Ill with no memory of her life before. She also began hearing a distant voice whispering in her mind that would keep her awake for days on end. Despite nearly driving her insane, once she started to listen and trust it, the voice helped her harness her newfound power of void manipulation and escape the facility.

Wraith Abilities

Tactical Ability: Into the Void - Reposition quickly through the safety of void space, avoiding all damage.

Passive Ability: Voices from the Void - A voice warns you when danger approaches. As far as you can tell, it’s on your side.

Ultimate Ability: Dimensional Rift - Link two locations with portals for 60 seconds, allowing your entire team to use them.

 

Bangalore

Taking on the role of Professional Soldier, Bangalore is your go-to weapons expert when you want to rack up some damage on your opponents.

Bangalore is your bog-standard soldier and perhaps the easiest to jump in and play with. Her tactical ability is a grenade launcher that deals damage and emits a considerably sized smoke wall simultaneously. You can use it to bombard enemies and obscure their vision, or fire it in front of you so you've got some cover to move. Fire a smoke grenade into Caustic's toxic gas and the enemies won't be able to see two feet in front of them.

Born into a military family where she, her parents, and her four older brothers all served in the IMC Armed Forces, Bangalore has been an exceptional soldier since she was young. She was top of her class at the IMC Military Academy and the only cadet who could take apart a Peacekeeper, equip it with a Precision Choke hop-up, and put it back together in under twenty seconds – blindfolded.

Bangalore Abilities 

 Tactical Ability: Smoke Launcher - Fire a high-velocity smoke canister that explodes into a smoke wall on impact.

Passive Ability: Double Time - Taking fire while sprinting makes you move faster for a brief time.

Ultimate Ability: Rolling Thunder - Call in an artillery strike that slowly creeps across the landscape.

Mirage

Taking on the role of Holographic Trickster, Mirage's sneaky cloaking ability and vanishing act will leave your opponents frustrated and confused.

Mirage is the kind of guy who likes to stand out. The youngest of four brothers, he perfected the art of fooling around to get attention. The one thing he took seriously was Holo-Pilot technology: introduced to the illusion-creating tech by his engineer mother, he poured over the mechanisms and learned all he could about them. Even when his brothers went MIA during the Frontier War, Mirage and his mother continued to develop holo devices, and the work brought them closer.

For Mirage, you're also going to have to fork out some Apex Coins or Legend Tokens, but he's worth it if you like fooling your opponents and playing sneakily. Mirage is all about decoys; when he gets knocked down, a holographic version of himself is automatically deployed and Mirage himself gets cloaked for five seconds.

Mirage Abilities

Tactical Ability: Psyche Out - Send out a holographic decoy to confuse the enemy. 

Passive Ability: Encore! - Automatically drop a decoy and cloak for five seconds when knocked down.

Ultimate Ability: Vanishing Act - Deploy a team of Decoys to distract enemies while you cloak.

 

Gibralatar

Claiming the role of Shielded Fortress, Gibraltar's unique shielding abilities make him a valuable defensive member to any squad in Apex Legends.

Gibraltar is a gentle giant with a wild side. The son of two SARAS (Search and Rescue Association of Solace) volunteers, he has always been skilled at getting others out of dangerous situations that are common in the Outlands. However, he only began to understand the value of protecting others when he and his boyfriend stole his father’s motorcycle, took it on a joyride, and got trapped by a deadly mudslide. His parents saved them, and his father lost an arm in the process. Gibraltar has never forgotten that sacrifice and has devoted his life to helping those in need.

Acting in the role of team tank, Gibraltar's protection shields make him a crucial aspect of your squad - especially when taking on enemy fire.

Although Gibraltar's Dome of Protection Ability is usually used to protect your team, it can also be used to catch the attention of an enemy squad. When Gibraltar has been spotted, thrown down the Dome of Protection to create a distraction that will allow your remaining team members to flank the enemy team and take them by surprise.

Tactical Ability: Dome of Protection - Throw down a dome-shield that blocks all incoming and outgoing attacks for 15 seconds.

Passive Ability: Gun Shield - Aiming down sights deploys a gun shield that blocks incoming fire.

Ultimate Ability: Defensive Bombardment - Call in a concentrated mortar strike on a marked position.

Caustic

Taking on the role of Toxic Trapper, Caustic uses his scientistic background to trap enemy opponents in a range of toxic gases.

 

Before there was Caustic, a scientist named Alexander Nox worked at Humbert Labs, the Frontier’s leading manufacturer of pesticide gases. With a glut of pesticides needed to protect the growing Frontier colonies’ crops, Humbert Labs was constantly on the hunt for better and stronger formulas. Nox was one of their brightest scientists and worked day and night developing new gases. But to make sure they worked, he needed to test them on more than just inert tissue: he needed something living.

Unfortunately, Caustic is the first of two Legends locked at the start of the game, so you'll need to either save up your Legend Tokens or fork out real life money to get him. When you eventually use him though, he's all about the toxic gas.

Caustic Abilities 

Tactical Ability: Nox Gas Trap - Drop canisters that release deadly Nox gas when shot or triggered by enemies.

Passive Ability: Nox Vision - Allows you to see enemies through your gas.

Ultimate Ability: Nox Gas Grenade - Blankets a large area in Nox gas.

Bloodhound

Assuming the role of Technological Tracker, Bloodhound is your go-to tracking expert when wanting to hunt down enemy opponents in Apex Legends.

 

Bloodhound is known across the Outlands as one of the greatest game hunters the Frontier has ever seen – and that’s about all anyone knows. Their identity is a mystery wrapped in layers of rumors: they are fabulously wealthy, a bloodthirsty murderer, a Goliath whisperer, a former slave, half bat, and a dozen other things depending on who’s doing the whispering.

Tactical Ability: Eye of the Allfather - The Eye of Allfather allows you to briefly reveal hidden enemies, traps, and clues throughout structures in front of you.

Passive Ability: Tracker - Bloodhound's Tracker ability allows you to see all tracks left behind by your opponents in the past 60 seconds. Bloodhound can track enemy footsteps, door use, damage taken, players killed, and any items or weapons picked up.

Ultimate Ability: Beast of the Hunt - Beast of the Hunt enhances your senses, allowing you to move faster by 25% and highlighting enemies in red.

Lifeline

Claiming one of the most important roles in the game, Lifeline's experience as a Combat Medic could very well be your teams saving grace in Apex Legends.

 

Ajay Che, aka Lifeline, isn’t someone you would expect to find in the Apex Games. Once the child of wealthy war profiteers, she left home when she learned of the damage her family had caused and enlisted in the Frontier Corps, a humanitarian organization that aids Frontier communities in need. She’s since devoted her life to helping others and joined the Apex Games to fund the Frontier Corps with her winnings.

Her Care Package ultimate is incredibly handy if your team has just won a fight, but you've all come out bruised and battered. It calls in a drop pod "full of high quality defensive gear", from med kits and shield cells to new armour and helmets. Lifeline is the backbone for any team.

 

Lifeline Abilities

Lifeline's abilities focus primarily around healing and supporting your teammates in while in battle. You can see our complete breakdown on each of Lifeline's abilities below.

Tactical Ability: D.O.C Heal Drone - Call your Drone of Compassion to automatically heal nearby teammates over time.

Passive Ability: Combat Medic - Revive knocked down teammates faster while protected by a shield wall. Healing items are used 25% faster.

Ultimate Ability: Care Package - Call in a drop pod full of high-quality defensive gear.

Pathfinder

Claiming the role as Forward Scout, Pathfinder's surveying skill set and grappling abilities make traversing the map a breeze.

Pathfinder is the picture of optimism, despite his circumstances. A MRVN (Mobile Robotic Versatile eNtity) modified to specialize in location scouting and surveying, he booted up decades ago in an abandoned laboratory with no idea who created him or why. With only his MRVN designation to hint at his identity, Pathfinder set off in search of his creator.

While some might feel that this Legend doesn't always fit in with the team aspect of the game, there's simply no denying the immense utility of his kit. 

Sure, his Grappling Hook can make for a flashy play mid-fight, but it's also good for quickly getting a new vantage point for fights, allowing him to get plenty of new intel for his teammates. It's true that it doesn't do much for his teammates in the same way as other Legends' abilities do, but it's still quite useful.

Pathfinder Abilities

Tactical Ability: Grappling Hook - Grapple to get to out-of-reach places quickly.

Passive Ability: Insider Knowledge - Scan a survey beacon to reveal the ring’s next location.

Ultimate Ability: Zipline Gun - Create a zipline for everyone to use.
